On May 6, at the exhibition center Expo Georgia, an event dedicated to Europe Day was organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia and celebrated together with thousands of visitors.

Sophisticated border surveillance equipment together with relevant infrastructure and vehicles, funded by the EU and procured by IOM with a total value of EUR 1.25 million (GEL 3.5 million), will further develop the abilities of the Government of Georgia to combat irregular migration and cross-border.

On 21 February 2023, IOM hosted the 3rd Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of the project titled: Support to Integrated Border Management in Georgia, implemented under the EU4 Security, Accountability and Fight against Crime in Georgia (SAFE) Programme.

On 10 February, a joint workshop of EU Delegation, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Public Services Development Agency was held. The workshop was dedicated to the Unified Migration Data Analytical System (UMAS).

From 6 to 8 December, IOM in close coordination with the Ministry of Justice and supported by a Greek subject-matter expert, conducted training for border control officials on trafficking in human beings. 

The 2nd Steering Group Meeting of the multi-annual EU-funded project on "Border  and Migration Management Action for Georgia (BMMAG)" was held on 13 December, at the premises of the Public Service Development Agency of Georgia.

On 5-7 December 2022 IOM conducted a training on border risk analysis for the analysts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA). The training aimed at developing analytical capacities of different MIA entities involved in border management, in particular: Information-Analytical Department, Border Police, Patrol Police Department and Migration Department.

On 29 and 30 October, a training-for-trainers took place in the Tskaltubo-based branch of the High School of Justice (HSOJ). Six judges from city and appeal courts in Akhaltsikhe, Batumi and Tbilisi discussed migration-related aspects of Georgia’s criminal and administrative codes.
