Informed Migration, Boundless Opportunities

IOM Presents New Project Initiatives to Georgian Government Agencies

On 14 February, IOM participated in the regular project coordination meeting convened by the Secretariat to the State Migration on Commission Issues (SCMI). This was an excellent opportunity to inform stakeholders in the concerned state entities of the top-up funds allocated by the European Union to the SBMMG project, which foresee inter alia technical assistance to the Georgian government for securing compliance with the benchmarks of the visa suspension mechanism. Coordination with technical experts from EU Member States will be enhanced to ensure that appropriate responses are formulated to deal with the abuse of the asylum system in EU countries.

The SBMMG project in its initial design and the top-up facility will both last until end March 2021.
